Not a bad metaphor for the right approach to globalization, I think. I owe it to one of the Kennedy School mid-career students, Mingyou Bao, who was interviewed by Paul Solman on PBS NewsHour last friday, along with three other KSG sudents. The metaphor speaks tons about the manner in which China has managed its insertion in the world economy. The transcript of the conversation is here. My colleague Robert Lawrence and I had cameo roles in the program.

That metaphor is from the North Korean regime's propaganda mill. They call their approach to foreign influences/capitalism the "mosquito net". :-D

They are puffy, itchy and red. Mosquito bites. Mosquitoes are probably the most annoying thing about the summer months.

Many places and centers offer business and trade promotions to both buyers and supplier. What about the differences in skill intensities across industries? The job losses in the relatively unskilled-labor intensive battery industry should have little effect on the relatively skilled-labor intensive machinery
